The resources I'll need to carry out the plan include:
- The SchoolBlog User Guide at found at http://schoolblog.epals.com/sites/schoolblog.epals.com/themes/epals_schoolblog/ePALS_SchoolBlog_Guide.pdf
- A colleague to blog with me
- A username and password that were created by my Director of Technology
- The blog support team available at SchoolBlog
Additional information I'll need may include articles or web resources on how to best incorporate blogs in an elementary classroom. The Walden library may be of assistance for the articles. I can also do a Google search on elementary classroom blogs to see examples of how other teachers are using them in their schools. If anyone in our Walden class has had success with this technology, their experience would be be beneficial as well.
To be honest, I haven't started anything toward my GAME plan. The first step I will take this week is to download the pdf userguide and read at least one section on how to get started setting up accounts for my students.
Kristen,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a great GAME plan in place. I like your idea about doing a Google search for elementary classrom blogs to see examples. I feel that there are many great resources out there, but I always find it helpful when I can see other teachers who are teaching the same things I am and to see how they are implementing technology in their classroom. I think it helps me to have a better understanding and I am able to relate it more closely to my teaching. Good luck with everything!
Kristen,
ReplyDeleteYour students will love epals it is a great site!
Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean about having difficulty diving into a project. Last year I bugged the head of the technology department to let me make a class wiki and he gave me a link to try and I still have not done it yet. I think some of the problem is that we are learning new technologies so fast in our courses. I feel like we just learn a new technology or way to implement it and then we move on to something new before I have the chance to stop and try it out.
Having a GAME plan has helped me to focus a little bit and make a clear goal about implementing technology. It sounds like it is doing the same thing for you! I have not started my GAME plan either, but like you, now that we have laid out what we need, I have plans to get started this week. Good luck to you. I look forward to reading about your journey with epals and your GAME plan! -Amber
You can get some nice tips from my colleague KIm Cofino's Blog entry: http://kimcofino.com/blog/2010/11/07/creating-a-blogging-scope-and-sequence/
ReplyDeleteThere is a document that we are all working on blogging scope and sequence, please have a look at it and feel free to contribute:)
